The EMBRACE Covenant is the way for service providers in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin to commit to be more inclusive of older and old LGBT+ people in the work that they do. If you operate in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and would like to join the many organisations already doing great inclusive work then this webpage is designed to help you.
It is important that your commitment is meaningful – we’re not being funny but, over the years, we have been approached by many organisations which want to use our logo or join the covenant without doing anything different in terms of their actual practice. This damages the integrity of EMBRACE and undermines the work of others.
The Covenant requires you to commit:
- to providing the best possible quality services for older and old LGBT+ people
- to learning what life can be – and has been – like for different LGBT+ people
- to vocally and visually supporting groups working with and for older and old LGBT+ people
- to creating meaningful opportunities for LGBT+ people and groups to ‘influence’ what you do
- to assessing and evidencing change, including work carried out to engage LGBT+ people (within the group/organisation and outside it)
In order to join the Covenant, we ask you first to watch some videos.
